Robert
D. Thompson Director of Programs
Mr. Thompson currently serves as Director of
Programs for the American Defense Institute (ADI). As Director of Programs,
he is responsible for the day to day activities pertaining to ADI programs, which include
the Military Voter Program, Adjunct Scholar program, and Internship program. He is
senior editor of ADI News and the monthly ADI Briefing policy papers.
From 1995 to 1996, prior to his work with
ADI, Mr. Thompson was Vice President and Director of Political Programs for the Krieble
Institute, where he helped to train democracy movement grass roots activists in
Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
From 1989 to 1994, Mr. Thompson was Director
of Political Training for the Free Congress Foundation. He was responsible
for organizing over 100 grass roots political training seminars and training over 5,000
individuals on the nuts and bolts of grass roots political activism.
In 1994, Mr. Thompson worked for NET
The Political Newstalk Network (currently Americas Voice)
as Director of Special Projects, where he was senior producer of a seven-part series on
the 1994 election and coordinated NETs first election night coverage and NETs
first two telethons.
Mr. Thompson began his Washington career
eleven years ago on Capitol Hill working for the U. S. House Republican Study Committee.
Mr. Thompson graduated with a degree in
Political Science in 1984 from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He and his wife,
Shelly, have four daughters and reside in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
