   Winter 1997 (vol. XIII  number 1)
          
        "Defend America :Vote!  A 1996 Update" - A review of ADI's Military Voter Program and the need to facilitate military voter registration and absentee voting. 

         "The Captain's Chair : North Korea" - New insight into Captain McDaniel's work in POW/MIA affairs as he recounts his trip to North Korea.  He explains the recent findings involving North Korea and the servicemen left behind by our government from the Korean conflict.

   Spring 1997 (vol. XIII  number 2)

            "1996 Report Card on President Clinton" -  ADI's review of the President's handling of Bosnia, China, National Security/Military Policy, Russia, North Korea, and Iran/Iraq.   A look at the shortcomings and improvements in the Administration's Foreign Policy.

             "The Captain's Chair: China Scandal" - A look into the attempts of the Chinese Communists to have influence with U.S. policymakers through 1996 congressional and presidential election campaigns.  What is the extent of the danger to national security and to what depth does the corruption of our government go?

    Fall 1997 (vol. XIII  number 3)

             "Gulf War Illnesses: A Growing Concern" - In-depth look at the sicknesses      ravaging our service personnel and their families.  A description of the speculated causes, work being done to cure the illnesses, and the "casualty creep" of the Pentagon.

              "Russia in Review" - Summary of the concerns inside Russia and its military.   The collapse of Russian military morale, strategic rocket force credibility, the mystery surrounding the Mt. Yamantau military complex, and Russian sales of arms are all described in this issue.

    Winter 1998 (vol. XIV  number 1)

  
           "1997 Report Card on President Clinton" - ADI's update of the President's international relations.  Bosnia, China, Iraq, Military Policy, NATO, and Russia are studied and graded.

               "The Captain's Chair: NATO Expansion Dangers" - The dangers of further NATO expansion and ADI's work with CANE (Coalition Against NATO Expansion) is described.

                 " POW Update" - Senator Robert C. Smith (NH) honors former POWs from the Vietnam War, and the National Prisoner of War Museum prepares to open.

                " Where They Are Now: An Interview With a Former ADI Intern" - ADI interviews Lt. Matthew K. Travis, USN (ADI Intern 1989), current White House Liaison to the Secretary of the Navy and ADI Adjunct Scholar.  Demonstrates ADI's regular program of keeping in touch with former interns.

Spring 1998 (vol. XIV number 2)

"Special Anniversary Issue" - The American Defense Institute celebrates the 25th anniversary of Captain McDaniel's return home after spending six years as a POW in the 'Hanoi Hilton' in North Vietnam.

"The Captain's Chair - Spring 1998" - Captain McDaniel reflects on the 25th anniversay of his return to freedom and the 15th anniversary of the founding of ADI.  

"Andersonville POW Museum Opening" - A Prisoner of War museum opens in Andersonville, Georgia, honoring those men who have been a POW in past wars.  Captain McDaniel's son, Mike McDaniel, highlights his visit to the museums grand-opening in April.
