Operation Just Cause... ...for as long as it takes
(for Veterans Day)

I write my poems because they were
my friends, and could have been my brothers;
I could have been the nam nurse or the donut dollie -
you could have been their fathers and their mothers.
People say it's over now, it's been over 20 years;
I'm aware of the passage of time,
and the duration of War's tears -
War never ends.
Ask the veteran's children,
ask his wife, his friends ~
I cry when I hear their dreams
and I write when I hear their sorrow,
I wrote this poem today,
and I'll write another tomorrow.
Remember our brave men and women
Remember the past....
and never forget
That Peace doesn't last.
