In God's Name

by Jack Kazanijian, USAF SAC-Command [Ret.]
Medal of Freedom Candidate

God! What am I doing in this place?
As night falls upon me I see Your light
And I know everything will be all right
For You are the light.

In death men pass before me and I can only
Wonder as to their lght. As to the light of all
Who fell under the weight of war.

From above I carried only death and destruction
That rained on the enemy below, and in their own
Deaths I wonder if they, in their own way can forgive me.

I pray, but not just for myself but for All lives lost in war.
Lost in the light that now only
Shines on the emptiness of their own sorrows, as we in ours.

I stand and gave upon this wall of sorrow, and
In the light of this wall I pray to be forgiven.
In the light of the many names upon this wall
I vow to keep Your light burning.
To shine upon the wars of tomorrow, and future
Walls of sorrow.

To keep the light of the many P.O.W. and M.I.A.s
Burning bright in my heart, for in You is the light,
The strength, hopes and prayers of a nation caught up
In Your light.

We stand at the sawning of a new light.
A new mellenium dawns our horizon, and in this light
I Pray!

In God's Name.
