Operation Just Cause...                                                                                                      ...for as long as it takes
From: Marjorie Preston
On June 25, 1950, the United States became embroiled in one of the
bloodiest
wars in its history, spanning three years and costing the lives of more
than
100,000 American servicemen. The political ramifications of this
conflict
would resonate for decades, from the bitter showdown between President
Truman and General MacArthur to the entrance of Communist China as a key
player in the Cold War. Unfortunately, today it has become "The
Forgotten
War," its memory overshadowed by those of World War II and Vietnam.
The History Channel will examine this forgotten victory in its four-part
special THE KOREAN WAR: FIRE & ICE, which will make its world premiere
September 20 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT. The show not only documents the
brutal war that took more than 2 million casualties but also interviews
more
than 50 veterans to reveal the complex emotions and heartbreaking
stories
behind this conflict.
THE KOREAN WAR: FIRE & ICE pays tribute to the brave men and women who
served in this war and is a living testament to the courage and
sacrifice of
all our veterans. It is time to remember all who have served our
country.
Perhaps you could write an overview of this important and educational
program for your site.
